Passenger Injured in Amarillo Fatal Crash
Amarillo, TX (July 11, 2024) – A Cadillac driver, 18-year-old Edwin Macias, and his passenger, 20-year-old Aaron Cervantez of Dimmitt, were killed in a Soncy Road collision Sunday.
Investigators said 19-year-old Dawson Pemberton was driving a Chevy Tahoe with a speed that exceeded 80 miles per hour.
Pemberton’s vehicle ran the red light at the intersection with SW 45th Avenue and collided with the Cadillac driven by Macias.
Aaron Cervantez was thrown from the vehicle and was killed at the scene.
Edwin Macias also succumbed to his crash injuries.
Meanwhile, another passenger in the Cadillac, 18-year-old Alexander Rivera, also of Dimmitt, was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The authorities arrested Dawson Pemberton Wednesday with two counts of manslaughter and a count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. They booked him into Randall County Jail with a bond set at $455,000.
