Bicyclist Killed in Taft Vehicle Crash
Taft, CA (July 15, 2024) – Denise Arenas, 32, of Taft, was involved in a deadly vehicle crash on Highway 33 early Monday morning.
It was about 12:57 a.m. when the fatal crash happened south of Cadet Road.
Troopers said a Taft man was riding a bicycle on Highway 33 when he was hit by a car driven by Arenas.
The victim was northbound on the highway when the northbound Toyota Highlander driven by Arenas approached.
Toyota passed the victim but the right front of the Toyota collided with the bicycle and rider.
The man riding the bicycle was thrown from the bike and died at the scene. Officers said he was not wearing a helmet when the collision happened.
Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
