1 Dead and 1 Injured in Bakersfield Car Collision near Highway 99
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 24, 2020) – On March 22, a driver died in a truck and car collision near Highway 99 and Highway 119.
The incident occurred on Sunday morning at about 4:00 a.m., when 43-year-old semi-truck driver Jeffrey Culver was traveling north on Highway 99.
Meanwhile, the unidentified, now deceased man was traveling in the Highway 99 slow lane in a Volkswagen Jetta. Reports revealed that the man’s hazard lights were activated.
As the man suddenly stopped, Jeffrey Culver struck his vehicle from behind. The impact sent them both off the roadway.
The 59-year-old male Jetta driver died in the collision. Meanwhile, Jeffrey Culver sustained moderate injuries.
As of this time, the identity of the Jetta driver remains unreleased.
The authorities shut down the northbound on-ramp and slow lane of Highway 119. The lanes remained closed as of 7:48 a.m., but have since re-opened.
