Pedestrian Accidents in California
Pedestrian accidents are incidents in which someone walking or crossing a road is injured by a vehicle striking them.
If you’re a driver, make sure to scan the road 1/2 mile to a full mile ahead to the lookout or recognize potential hazards in time. Our bodies weren’t designed to travel at 50mph. We were designed for speeds of less than 10mph, thus you need to learn to consciously break that instinct and focus farther ahead.
On the other hand, if you’re a pedestrian, always make sure to practice safety precautions as well. While car accidents are far more common than pedestrian accidents, there is still reason to be wary when traveling on foot.
“Pedestrian accidents do not occur as much as motor vehicle accidents, but the pedestrian accidents tend to include more serious injuries,” says Tyler Toomey, a practicing attorney at Sweet Lawyers.
