Injuries Reported in Madera County Auto Accident on Business Route 41 near Root Creek Road
MADERA COUNTY, CA (November 5, 2024) – Sunday morning, authorities arrested a driver after a startling fiery crash on Business Route 41.
The incident involving a yellow McLaren happened at about 1:45 a.m. on Business Route 41 near Root Creek Road.
Officers reported that a 42-year-old man from Madera was driving a yellow 2023 McLaren north on Business Route 41 near the curve at Root Creek Road. Investigators say he failed to navigate the curve, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway onto the right shoulder, where it overturned multiple times before coming to rest on its roof.
The McLaren then caught fire, with both the driver and his passenger trapped inside. They were rescued before the flames fully engulfed the vehicle. The driver, who suffered major injuries, is suspected to have been under the influence of alcohol, while his passenger sustained minor injuries, including burns. The driver was arrested on DUI charges.
CHP officers remind the public about the dangers of driving under the influence and encourage planning ahead to avoid such accidents and arrests.
