Suspected Drunk Driver Injures Stanislaus Sheriff’s Deputy in Crash on Crows Landing Road

Modesto, CA (September 4, 2021) – A DUI crash on Crows Landing Road left a Stanislaus Sheriff’s deputy injured and a driver arrested on Thursday night.

The incident happened on September 2 on Crows Landing Road near Hatch Road intersection shortly before 7 p.m.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene and reported that an alleged drunk driver crashed into the Sheriff’s Deputy’s vehicle.

According to Sheriff’s Lt. Mario Moreno, the deputy was driving north on Crows Landing responding to a call. Suddenly, the suspected drunk driver of a blue Ford SUV made a left turn in front of the deputy. The deputy did not have enough time to stop as a result, the two vehicles collided.

Officers arrested the driver for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. Furthermore, officers also found drugs inside the driver’s vehicle. However, CHP officer Nate Minick said that it is unknown if it was in his system.

Meanwhile, the deputy sustained minor injuries from the collision.

No life-threatening injuries were reported.
