Driver Dies after His SUV Overturns on Highway 101 at Lawrence Expressway
SUNNYVALE, CA (September 23, 2019) – A man died in a car accident early Monday morning in Sunnyvalle, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash happened around 2:45 a.m. on Highway 101 at Lawrence Expressway off-ramp.
According to the CHP, the man was driving his white 2001 Mitsubishi SUV onto the off-ramp from southbound Highway 101. For unknown reasons, he lost control causing the car to overturn on its wheels.
The impact partially ejected the driver, who died at the scene. The coroner’s office identified him as Donnell Robinson, 45, of Palo Alto.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash, and an autopsy may determine why Robinson lost control.
The CHP closed the off-ramp to the the Lawrence Expressway until around 5:00 a.m. while they investigated the incident.
