Pacific County DUI Accident Injures Donald Staugaard and Others

Pacific County, WA (May 27, 2021) – On Tuesday, 50-year-old Donald Staugaard of Lacey was injured in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 103.

The Washington accident took place minutes before 6 p.m. at the intersection of 245th Street.

Officers said 37-year-old Amy Phelps of Woodland was southbound in a tan 2004 Jeep Liberty when she attempted to turn left on 245th Street.

Unfortunately, she failed to yield the right of way to a 2008 Toyota Prius. The Toyota then hit the passenger-side front end of the Jeep.

Phelps and Staugaard, her passenger, were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. They were taken to Ocean Beach Hospital with injuries.

Moreover, the Toyota driver, 66-year-old Vera Caldwell of Portland, and her passenger, 39-year-old Peterson Caldwell, also of Portland, were both injured. Rescuers took them to Ocean Beach Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the officers said Phelps was impaired at the time of the accident. She has been charged with two counts of vehicular assault.

The perverse actions of a reckless driver can increase the likelihood of traffic collisions. If you are a driver, pay close attention to those around you. Always keep a considerable distance from others just in case harm is near.
