3 People Hurt in Platte County Auto Accident on Interstate 29 near 72nd Street

PLATTE COUNTY, MO (December 23, 2024) – Saturday morning, a disastrous traffic crash on Interstate 29 near 72nd Street injured three people.

The incident happened at around 1:45 a.m. on northbound Interstate 29, just south of Northwest 72nd Street.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a vehicle rear-ended a Jeep for still unknown reasons. Then, a car struck the first vehicle that spun into the left lane after the initial crash. Also, a tractor-trailer truck collided with the car and crashed into the median.

Moreover, authorities confirmed that the 19-year-old male driver of the Jeep and the male driver of the truck sustained minor injuries in the incident. Then, paramedics transported the 19-year-old female passenger of the Jeep to a North Kansas City Hospital with serious injuries.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the Missouri State Highway Patrol continued investigating the crash.
