GAVIOTA, CA (March 4, 2024) – Saturday night, a disastrous single-vehicle crash on Highway 101 near Gaviota Tunnel injured five people.

The incident happened at around 10:45 p.m. on northbound Highway 101, a half mile north of the Gaviota Tunnel.

According to reports, a sport utility vehicle struck rocks that fell onto the roadway. Then, the force of the crash flipped the SUV onto its side.

Moreover, responders were two males and three females to a hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

Furthermore, the incident closed one lane of Highway 101 but has long since reopened.
