3 People Hurt in Sutter County Auto Accident on State Route 20 and South Tarke Road
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (February 23, 2024) – Thursday morning, a disastrous school bus crash on State Route 20 and South Tarke Road injured three people.
The incident happened at around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 20 and South Tarke Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a yellow Thomas school bus for the Meridian School District was turning left onto State Route 20 from South Tarke Road. Then, due to heavy fog and low visibility, the bus collided with a 2014 Ford Fusion whose driver also failed to see the bus due to the fog.
As a result, responders transported two students from the bus, ages 11 and 14-year-old, and the driver of the Ford, to Adventist Health+ Rideout Hospital for complaints of pain.
Also, officers confirmed that the school bus had its rooftop fog strobe and headlights active when the incident occurred.
At this time, the events that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
Due to the limited information available, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
