Disastrous Police Chase Crash on Mitchell Road and Highway 99 Injures 3 [Ceres, CA]

3 People Hospitalized in Ceres Auto Accident on Mitchell Road and Highway 99

CERES, CA (July 24, 2024) – Tuesday morning, a disastrous police chase crash on Mitchell Road and Highway 99 injured three people.

The incident happened at around 3:30 a.m. on Mitchell Road and Highway 99.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Jeep SUV that was traveling at a high rate of speed attempted to pass a vehicle and was noticed by a CHP officer. Then, the officer drove in front of the Jeep, activated lights and siren, but the Jeep refused to pull over and fled towards the Hatch Road exit and into southbound Highway 99.

Moreover, the pursuit ended when the Jeep exited towards Mitchell Road and crashed into a light post at the bottom of the off-ramp. Then, the jeep erupted into flames after the crash.

Furthermore, responders extricated three occupants of the vehicle, the driver, and two of its passengers, a 16-year-old from San Lorenzo and a 20-year-old from Hayward. Then, paramedics transported the two passengers to a local hospital with major injuries.

Meanwhile, authorities arrested the 17-year-old driver of the jeep on suspicion of vehicle theft, fleeing law enforcement, and fleeing law enforcement while causing injuries.
