Injuries Reported in Houston Auto Accident on Chimney Rock Road near Burdine Street
HOUSTON, TX (July 22, 2023) – Friday, a disastrous police chase crash on Chimney Rock Road near Burdine Street injured 2 people.
According to reports, the incident began when the authorities received a call from a woman who claimed that her boyfriend assaulted her. When the officers arrived, they didn’t find him there.
Then, the woman eventually called the officers again later and said she was being followed by him. Then, the 911 operator asked her to drive to a police station.
When officers attempted to question the guy, he fled the scene which led to a 34-minute chase through southwest Houston.
Then, he exited his vehicle and officers approached him.
“He was able to get back into his car, took off again headed southbound on Chimney Rock where he struck a citizen’s vehicle,” HPD Commander Christopher Hassig added.
The impact of the crash pushed the innocent bystander’s SUV into a ditch and then he struck the pole hard enough to set off the airbags.
Officers confirmed that the man failed to wear a seatbelt so he sustained injuries to his head. Then, he hit the windshield.
The man went to a hospital by ambulance. Officers noted that he was wearing an ankle monitor but they haven’t disclosed why yet.
Also, the crash injured the woman and responders took her to a hospital to be checked out as a precaution.
Moreover, the man is currently facing charges including assault of a family member, evading arrest, and possibly auto theft since the vehicle he drove belonged to his girlfriend’s mother.
His identity remained undisclosed.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
