Injuries Reported in Alpine Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 8 and Tavern Road
ALPINE, CA (October 11, 2023) – Tuesday morning, a disastrous multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 8 and Tavern Road injured 3 people.
The incident happened just after 7:15 a.m. on Interstate 8, west of Tavern Road.
Officers revealed that the crash involved six cars. According to reports, the driver of a small sedan went into the back of a truck towing a trailer in heavy fog, said CHP Officer Jared Grieshaber. Then, other cars went into the initial vehicles in a chain-reaction crash, he added.
As a result, responders took three people to the hospital, one with major injuries and two with minor injuries.
Then, the authorities issued a traffic alert shortly after 7:30 a.m.
Thus, the crash initially shut down all three lanes while the shoulder remained open. Then, Kist before 9 a.m., the left lane of the freeway reopened.
Also, the authorities diverted the traffic off at Dunbar Lane while the sweeper truck worked the area.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
