RIVERSIDE, CA (June 21, 2023) – Tuesday morning, a disastrous head-on crash on Highway 62 near Interstate 10 injured 2 people.

The incident happened at 9:06 a.m. on northbound Highway 62 near Interstate 10. According to reports, a head-on crash led to a fire. Thus, firefighters responded and found two vehicles with major damage from a head-on crash.

Two people were taken to a hospital with critical injuries Tuesday following a head-on collision on Highway 62.

Fire crews responded at 9:06 a.m. Tuesday to northbound Highway 62 near Interstate 10 after a report of a traffic collision with a fire, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

“Two patients (with) critical injuries (were) transported to (an) area hospital via ground ambulances,” Riverside County fire officials said. “One vehicle and 3 acres of vegetation burned, (and the) forward rate of spread stopped.”

The Palm Springs Fire Department, Cathedral City Fire Department, and a Cal Fire San Bernardino unit also helped in extinguishing the fire.

Moreover, the authorities shut down the westbound transition road to Highway 62 from I-10 as crews worked on the scene.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
