Diego Valencia Dies in Golden State Freeway Collision [Castaic, CA]

Castaic, CA (February 24, 2022) – On Tuesday, 23-year-old Diego Valencia from Castaic, died in a 2-car crash on 5 Freeway.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) says that the fatal crash happened around 10:10 p.m. just south of State Route 126.

Officials say that Valencia was on a 2002 Volkswagen Golf that collided with the center barrier and stopped perpendicular in the roadway.

Consequently, a 42-year-old Sylmar man driving a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq struck the Volkswagen from the left side.

Moreover, Valencia died at the scene, while the other driver sustained minor injuries.

The CHP is conducting an investigation and is encouraging people who might have witnessed the crash to call the CHP Newhall Area office at 661-600-1600.
