1 Dead and 2 Injured after Car Crashes into Tree near South Greenville Street
SANTA ANA, CA (June 15, 2018) – A man was killed and two others were injured, in a solo-car crash on MacArthur Boulevard, early Friday morning. The Orange County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased man as 27-year-old Diego Stevan Garcia.
The fatal accident happened around 12:30 AM on the 2600 block of West MacArthur Boulevard near South Greenville Street and Griset Park.
Police officials arrived at the scene to find the front-end of the vehicle completely crushed into the tree. Garcia was pronounced dead on site, while a woman and an infant were taken to a local hospital. They were treated for non-life threatening injuries, but there is no update on their current condition.
The relationship between the three occupants of the vehicle is unclear at this time.
Garcia was driving westbound on MacArthur, when he crossed opposing lanes and struck the south curb line before crashing into a tree on the south sidewalk, according to physical evidence. Officers from the Santa Ana Police believe that drugs or alcohol may be contributing factors in the fatal collision. The coroner will determine Garcia’s sobriety in the autopsy.
No other vehicles seemed to have been involved in the accident. If you have any additional information to share with investigators, call (714) 245-8200.
