Diego Espinoza Detained, Mathew Glancy Injured in Madera County DUI Crash on Sunrise Drive
MADERA COUNTY, CA (January 3, 2020) – A 27-year-old man sustained injuries while another got arrested after a DUI accident on Sunrise Drive.
Authorities booked 27-year-old Diego Espinoza of Fresno on charges of DUI and hit-and-run.
The incident began around 10:00 a.m., on January 1 when Espinoza driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla didn’t stop on westbound Sunrise Drive. He then entered Highway 49 and struck 27-year-old Mathew Glancy driving a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The crash led the Jeep to overturn and land on its roof. An ambulance transported Mathew Glancy to Saint Agnes Medical Center in Fresno with moderate injuries.
Meanwhile, Diego Espinoza fled the scene and headed south on Highway 49. However, when he approached Indian Rock Road, he lost control and crashed down a dirt embankment.
Espinoza attempted to hide in a nearby neighborhood. However, witnesses and Madera County Sheriff’s deputies found him.
