Woman Fatally Struck by Public Transport Bus on E Street near Fairway Drive
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (January 10, 2020) – A woman was killed after being struck by a bus Friday night in the city of San Bernardino, authorities said.
The fatal incident happened just before 6:00 p.m. on E Street near Fairway Drive.
According to police, the driver of an OmniTrans sbX bus traveling north on E Street and saw the woman walking in the bus lane. He tried to avoid the woman, but ended up hitting her.
Paramedics rushed the woman to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The San Bernardino County Coroner’s office identified the victim Sunday as Diana Tonche, 54, of San Bernardino.
Neither the driver of the bus nor any passengers were injured in the crash.
Police said the driver did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The incident is still under investigation.
