Tacoma, WA (December 10, 2024) On Wednesday, 31-year-old Devin Bond was killed after a horrific hit-and-run crash on Whitman Street.

According to authorities, the deadly pedestrian crash happened on November 27 near South Whitman Street and South 12th Street.

Reports say that a pedestrian was killed in a suspected hit-and-run incident on November 27 in Tacoma.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Bond died from multiple blunt-force injuries, classifying his death as accidental.

Police charged 34-year-old Anthony Thomas Albers with DUI vehicular homicide, reckless driving, and failing to remain at the scene of an accident resulting in death. Court records show Albers was initially held in Pierce County Jail with a $10,000 bail but secured release on bond on December 3.

A witness reported seeing a green pickup speeding near South Whitman Street on the night of the incident. The driver, appearing intoxicated, struck Bond, launching him into the air, and then fled west on South 12th Street, according to court documents.

Officers later located Albers, who appeared intoxicated and had the smell of alcohol on his breath. Albers denied involvement, claiming he passed the crash scene and heard something hit his truck, documents revealed.

Bond’s online obituary remembered him as a kind-hearted individual with a knack for humor, always striving to lift spirits around him. “He was not a fan of sadness or depressing energy. If he sensed it, he would quickly crack a joke to brighten everyone’s mood,” the obituary stated.
