43-Year-Old San Jose Motorcyclist Fatally Struck by Two Vehicles near North San Pedro Road
SAN RAFAEL, CA (June 16, 2018) – A motorcyclist was killed late Saturday evening after colliding with a vehicle and being struck by a second vehicle. The Marin County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 43-year-old Devendra Dilip Joglekar of San Jose.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place shortly before 11:25 PM on the US 101 Highway, near North San Pedro Road.
A Harley-Davidson Heritage motorcycle, driven by Joglekar, was heading south in the slow lane of the highway when it collided with a Toyota Prius traveling in the next lane. The rider was thrown from his motorcycle and struck by a Mazda 2 that was following directly behind him.
A CHP unit arrived at the scene and found Joglekar unconscious and not breathing. Life-saving efforts were done while waiting for the fire department to take over. Emergency crews spent approximately thirty minutes trying to save the rider, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers of the Prius and the Mazda stayed at the scene to cooperate with the investigation. Authorities claimed that neither of the drivers was impaired at the time of the collision.
