SAN DIEGO, CA (July 27, 2023) – Wednesday morning, a devastating wrong-way crash on Interstate 805 and Interstate 5 killed one person.

The incident happened before noon on Interstate 805 and Interstate 5.

According to California Highway Patrol officer Jesse Matias, a white Audi that was traveling the wrong way collided with a blue Honda Odyssey.

Moreover, responders pronounced the Honda driver, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported the Audi driver, a 29-year-old San Diego man, to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Furthermore, officers confirmed that CHP received a report about a white car that made a U-turn when it was about to enter the Mexico border.

At this time, the circumstances involved in the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
