1 Person Dead in Concord Auto Accident on Interstate 680 near Highway 4

CONCORD, CA (July 16, 2024) – Sunday night, a devastating vehicle crash on Interstate 680 near Highway 4 killed one person.

The incident happened at around 10:55 p.m. on Interstate Highway 680, just south of Highway 4.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Honda Civic crashed into a concrete barrier for still unknown reasons. Then, the force of the crash deflected the Honda off the barrier and came to rest on the number 3 and 4 lanes.

Moreover, after the initial crash, the male driver of the Honda exited the vehicle and was struck by a southbound black Chevrolet Tahoe. Then, the driver of the Honda was thrown into the roadway where he was struck by a silver Toyota Corolla. Also, the Corolla veered left after the crash, struck the concrete center divider, rolled over, and came to rest.

Responding paramedics pronounced the driver of the Honda, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics rushed the male driver of the Corolla to a hospital with major injuries.

Furthermore, authorities believe that the driver of the Honda may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
