1 Dead in Montgomery County Auto Accident on FM 149 near Arnsworth Drive

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX (August 13, 2024) – Sunday night, a devastating vehicle crash on FM 149 near Arnsworth Drive killed 1 person.

The crash happened at about 6:45 p.m. on FM 149 near Arnsworth Drive.

Deputies reported that a truck was heading north when it veered off the road and into a ditch. The vehicle continued through the ditch, eventually crashing into a large dead oak tree that had fallen during Hurricane Beryl. The force of the collision tore the roof off the truck, which then traveled further down the ditch before returning to FM 149 and coming to a stop on the southbound shoulder, just south of Chick Lane.

Emergency responders from Montgomery Fire and MCHD arrived at the scene. Tragically, the 21-year-old passenger was pronounced dead on the spot, though their identity has not been released. Reports said that the driver was transported to HCA Conroe Hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office Vehicular Crimes Unit.
