1 Person Dead in Monterey County Auto Accident on Maher Road near Tamara Lane

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (February 8, 2024) – Friday afternoon, a devastating two-vehicle crash on Maher Road near Tamara Lane killed one person.

The incident happened at around 4:30 p.m. on Maher Road near Tamara Lane.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a southbound white Honda Accord that was traveling at a high rate of speed crossed the double yellow lines where it collided with a northbound Honda Fit. Then, the force of the crash pushed the Honda Accord to roll over, ejecting the two occupants of the vehicle onto the roadway.

Moreover, responders pronounced the 16-year-old passenger of the Accord, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported the 17-year-old male driver of the Accord and the 29-year-old male driver of the Fit to Natividad Medical Center with major injuries.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
