1 Person Dead in Bakersfield Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 178 near Kelso Valley Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 9, 2023) – Sunday night, a devastating traffic crash on Highway 178 near Kelso Valley Road killed one person.

The incident happened at around 11:45 p.m. on Highway 178 near Kelso Valley Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident involved a deputy vehicle, a motorcycle that was split in half, a BMW, and a Ford Explorer.

As a result, authorities confirmed that at least one person died in the crash. Then, paramedics transported one person with leg and arm injuries and one person with minor injuries to a hospital for treatment. Also, the deputy involved was not hurt in the crash.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
