2 People Dead in Long Beach Auto Accident on Studebaker Road near Loynes Drive
LONG BEACH, CA (January 23, 2024) – Sunday night, a devastating single-vehicle crash on Studebaker Road near Loynes Drive killed two people.
The incident happened at around 6:20 p.m. on Studebaker Road, between Second Street and Loynes Drive.
According to reports, a northbound 2004 GMC Yukon that was traveling on Studebaker Road at a high rate of speed, lost control and struck a bridge support. Then, the force of the crash pushed the vehicle off the bridge and crashed down the channel below.
Moreover, the Long Beach Fire Department rushed to the scene and extricated the driver of the vehicle who was trapped inside the wreckage that was submerged under the water. Then, paramedics rushed the driver, a man in his 30s, to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Also, officers confirmed that a passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Furthermore, officers believe that speed and impairment played a role in the crash.
