1 Dead in Bakersfield Auto Accident on Highway 99 and Olive Drive

BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 31, 2023) – Sunday afternoon, a devastating rollover crash on Highway 99 and Olive Drive killed 1 person.

The incident happened just after 2:30 p.m. on Highway 99 near the southbound Olive Drive onramp

Reports said that a Bakersfield man driving a 2004 Ford southbound on Highway 99, approaching Olive Drive, made an unsafe turn and lost control of the Ford.

As a result, the Ford veered off the roadway, crashed into a wooden signpost, and overturned.

Meanwhile, the driver and right front passenger who were both wearing seatbelts during the crash sustained major injuries. Then, a third woman passenger in the backseat of the Ford who was not wearing a seatbelt was ejected from the vehicle. Officers pronounced her dead at the scene.

Also, the authorities do not believe that alcohol and or drugs played a role in the crash.

Moreover, the authorities continued to investigate the cause of the crash is under investigation. Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone with information regarding this crash to contact the California Highway Patrol, Bakersfield Area, at 661-396-6600.

The Kern County Coroner’s Office hasn’t disclosed the identity of the deceased due to pending family notification.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
