MORENO VALLEY, CA (September 3, 2023) – Friday night, a devastating pedestrian crash on Ironwood Avenue and Heacock Street killed 1 person.

The incident happened at around 4:59 p.m. on Ironwood Avenue, just west of Heacock Street. When the authorities arrived, they found the pedestrian lying in the street, said Sgt. Jared Hanson.

Thus, CalFire paramedics declared the pedestrian dead at the scene. The victim’s name and gender remained undisclosed due to pending family notification.

Meanwhile, the uninjured driver stayed at the scene and has been cooperative with authorities.

Moreover, a preliminary investigation revealed that the victim crossed into the westbound lanes of Ironwood Avenue. Meanwhile, the vehicle was driving in the same direction when the crash occurred, Hansen added.

Also, the authorities haven’t determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

Furthermore, they urged anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Deputy Chris Loucks at the Moreno Valley Station at 951-486-6700.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
