BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 3, 2024) – Tuesday morning, a devastating pedestrian crash on Interstate 5 near Bear Mountain Boulevard killed 1 person.

The incident happened at about 11:50 a.m. on Interstate 5, south of Highway 223.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a male pedestrian was found dead on the right shoulder of northbound Interstate 5, south of Highway 223. The exact time and reasons for the incident remain unclear.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the pedestrian was struck by an unknown vehicle and subsequently came to rest on the shoulder.

The CHP is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and has yet to determine if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
