1 Dead in Pruendale Pedestrian Accident on Highway 101 and Crazy Horse Canyon Road

PRUENDALE, CA (March 11, 2024) – Late Saturday night, a devastating pedestrian crash on Highway 101 and Crazy Horse Canyon Road killed 1 person.

The incident happened at 11:30 p.m. on southbound Highway 101 at Crazy Horse Canyon Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 23-year-old Salinas man wearing dark clothing tried to cross the southbound lanes on Highway 101 just north of Crazy Horse Canyon Road.

Then, a 26-year-old Hollister woman driving a 2020 Honda Civic around 65 mph on Southbound Highway 101 hit the man.

Moreover, the woman exited Crazy Horse Canyon Road and waited for officers to arrive.

Meanwhile, firefighters declared the man dead at the scene. Also, responders took the 26-year-old Hollister woman was transported to Natividad Medical Center for minor injuries.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
