1 Dead in Ludlow Pedestrian Accident on 40 Freeway

LUDLOW, CA (June 2, 2024) – Early Saturday, a devastating pedestrian crash on 40 Freeway killed 1 person.

The incident happened at about 2:10 a.m. on the westbound side of the remote stretch of 40 Freeway.

The authorities received a report of a disabled Nissan SUV rental vehicle stopped on the right-hand side of the roadway. While arrangements were being made to move the vehicle, the CHP received additional reports indicating that a woman who had been riding in the disabled SUV had exited the vehicle and was run over by a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, according to logs.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending identification and notification of family by San Bernardino County coroner’s officials. 

No further details are available at this time. Witnesses or anyone with information are encouraged to contact the CHP’s Barstow Office at (760) 255-5900.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
