1 Dead in Stockton Multi-Vehicle Accident on State Route 40

STOCKTON, CA (November 16, 2023) – Wednesday morning, a devastating multi-vehicle crash on State Route 4 killed 1 person.

The incident happened at about 5:36 a.m. as a 35-year-old Stockton man headed east. However, they entered into the westbound lane to pass traffic

However, due to dense fog, the man didn’t notice an oncoming Volvo big and as he tried to avoid the truck, his vehicle was hit by the big rig.

The impact sent the vehicle spinning into eastbound traffic. Then, he crashed with the Hyundai and Toyota he was trying to pass and continued to spin out of control back into the westbound lane.

Meanwhile, an oncoming Ford failed to see the man’s vehicle through the fog and hit the passenger side of the vehicle. As a result, it crashed into an embankment where it came to rest on its wheels.

CHP ruled out drugs and/or alcohol as a factor in the crash.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
