1 Dead in Thousand Oaks Pedestrian Accident on Windsor Drive and East Janns Road

THOUSAND OAKS, CA (December 10, 2023) – Saturday morning, a devastating hit-and-run crash on Windsor Drive and East James Road killed 1 person.

The crash happened at about 6:00 a.m. on Windsor Drive and East James Road.

Officers confirmed that a 31-year-old pedestrian was hit and killed in an apparent hit-and-run collision.

According to reports, a man was running in and out of traffic and trying to open the door to vehicles as they entered the intersection at Windsor Drive and East Janss Road. Then, one caller revealed that a man hopped into the bed of the truck and jumped back out.

When officers arrived, they found a man on a nearby sidewalk. The victim, a resident of Thousand Oaks, was declared dead at the scene.

Also, the authorities haven’t disclosed the identity of the man due to pending family notification.

Moreover, the intersection was shut down for about five hours as detectives investigated. Then, it reopened shortly after 11 a.m.

Also, the authorities haven’t made any arrests and no description of the vehicle was available.

Investigators confirmed that the man had been hit by a vehicle that escaped the scene.

Moreover, reports confirmed that the vehicle was driving westbound on Janss Road in the No. 2 lane and crashed with the pedestrian near the intersection.

Afterward, the driver escaped westbound on Janss Road and turned northbound onto Montgomery Road, sheriff’s officials added.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
