1 Person Dead in San Luis Obispo County Auto Accident on Highway 101 and Highway 166

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, CA (October 16, 2024) – Sunday morning, a devastating DUI crash on Highway 101 and Highway 166 killed one person.

The incident happened at around 2:10 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 101 and Highway 166.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Honda traveling at a high rate of speed failed to stop on time and rear-ended a 2012 Nissan Altima that was stopped. Then, the force of the crash pushed the Nissan to roll over, crashed into a black GMC Sierra, and also struck a Chrysler Pacifica.

Moreover, responders rushed the 30-year-old male driver of the Nissan to the Marian Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. 

Furthermore, officers arrested the 20-year-old male driver of the Honda on suspicion of DUI and other charges.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
