CHP Investigates Crash on 405 Freeway in San Fernando

San Fernando, CA (September 27, 2023) – Wednesday morning, one person sustained injuries in a crash on 405 Freeway.

The crash happened around 11:50 a.m. on September 27.

The video shows the offender driving wildly in what seems to be a dark blue Chevy Suburban SUV. The suspect merges dangerously to the right, nearly hitting a wall before overcorrecting back to the left.

As the suspect takes a hard left, it speeds across the interstate lanes and collides with a white Jeep SUV in the carpool lane. In the center lanes, it nearly avoids multiple oncoming vehicles.

The collision with the Jeep threw the Chevy SUV back into the middle lanes. After a brief pause, the Chevy appears to overcorrect once more and re-pass the Jeep before smashing into the center median.

The victim is seen stepping out of the Jeep and grimacing in pain. The crash debris was thrown over the interstate lanes, prompting a SigAlert at 12:24 p.m.

The victim in the Jeep reportedly suffered minor injuries during the incident.
