CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (December 25, 2024) – Monday night, a devastating bicycle crash on Van Maren Lane near Mercedes Avenue killed 1 person.

The incident happened at about 9:46 p.m. on Van Maren Lane near Mercedes Avenue.

Officers arrived to find a bicyclist lying in the roadway after being struck by a car, according to Citrus Heights police. The bicyclist was transported to a nearby hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Citrus Heights police stated that drugs and/or alcohol might have contributed to the crash. No arrests have been reported at this time.
