52-Year-Old Man Killed in Devastating Bicycle Crash on State Route 67 and Mapleview Street [Lakeside, CA]

1 Dead in Lakeside Bicycle Accident on State Route 67 and Mapleview Street

LAKESIDE, CA (July 7, 2024) – Friday night, a 52-year-old man died in a devastating bicycle crash on State Route 67 and Mapleview Street.

The incident happened at about 3:50 p.m. on State Route 67, north of Mapleview Street in Lakeside.

A 32-year-old man from Lakeside, driving a silver 2021 Chevrolet Trax, collided with a bicyclist crossing SR 67. 

Then, the bicyclist, also from Lakeside, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was unharmed. According to the CHP, drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
