2 Dead in San Diego Vehicle Crash on State Route 54 near Woodman Drive

SAN DIEGO, CA (October 30, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, a devastating auto accident on State Route 54 near Woodman Drive killed 2 people.

The incident happened on State Route 54 westbound, near Woodman Drive.

Reports said that a 52-year-old Chula Vista man drove a black Nissan 370z quickly on State Route 54 westbound, near Woodman Drive.

Then, for reasons still unknown, the driver went to the right and struck a raised curb and guardrail, causing the Nissan to flip as it went down a steep ravine.
As a result, both the driver and the male passenger were declared dead at the scene. However, their identities remained undisclosed due to pending family notification.

Meanwhile, CHP shut down the Woodman Drive on-ramp to SR-54 westbound as it investigated the crash.

“It is unknown if alcohol/or drugs were a factor in this crash. A toxicology report is pending through the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office,” the release revealed.

Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone who witnessed the crash to contact CHP and reach out to its San Diego Area office at 858-293-6000.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
