BUTTE COUNTY, CA (August 7, 2023) – Sunday afternoon, a devastating 2-car crash on Highway 149 near Openshaw Road.

The incident happened on southbound Highway 149, just south of Highway 99, near Openshaw Road.

According to reports, one of the cars traveled south on Highway 149. Then, it drove across the center median and struck a truck driving north.

One of the cars drove south on Highway 149 from Highway 99. Then, for unknown reasons, it drove across the center median where it crashed with a northbound truck.

The impact, one of the cars caught fire. Then, Cal Fire managed to contain it.

Also, the driver and passenger in the truck succumbed to injuries. Meanwhile, the driver and two passengers in the car were transported to the hospital with major injuries.

Then, all northbound lanes of Highway 149 at Openshaw Road were shut down from around 2:17 p.m. to 5:50 p.m.

Moreover, the authorities haven’t determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

Also, the identities of the parties involved weren’t released at this time due to pending family notification.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
