30-Year-Old Woman Dies in Pedestrian Crash at Dinuba Boulevard and Ferguson Avenue
VISALIA, CA (December 6, 2019) – The woman killed in a pedestrian crash three weeks ago in Visalia has been identified as 30-year-old Desire Alonzo.
The fatal incident happened around 10:00 p.m. on December 6 in the area of Dinuba Boulevard and Ferguson Avenue, just in front of Taco Bell.
Alonzo reportedly stepped out into traffic and was struck by a vehicle. Paramedics rushed her to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment. Despite life-saving efforts, she succumbed to her injuries Monday.
Officials said there is no crosswalk in the area. The speed limit in the area is 45 mph. Dinuba Boulevard is a busy thoroughfare for motorists traveling from northern Tulare County into Visalia. Pedestrians cross the road often, despite few crosswalks along Dinuba Boulevard.
Speed, drugs or alcohol were not a factor.
There were no arrests at this time, but the incident remains under investigation.
No words can mend the broken hearts and sorrow felt during this delicate moment. Our deepest condolences are with the family and friends affected of Desiree Alonzo.
