Desert Aire Man Derel Boggs Dies in Big Rig Crash on Interstate 5 [DuPont, WA]

DuPont, WA (October 29, 2021) – On Wednesday, 61-year-old Derel Boggs from Desert Aire suffered fatal injuries in a big rig crash on Interstate 5.

Responding officers said Boggs was southbound on the freeway.

He was in the left lane when he lost control of his vehicle and cut across all southbound lanes. He then struck a disabled big rig that was parked on the southbound shoulder.

Afterward, a compact SUV also struck Boggs’ vehicle as he swerved across the lanes.

Boggs died in the crash while the SUV driver was not injured.

Meanwhile, the officers have not yet identified whether intoxicants were a factor in the fatal crash.
