14-Year-Old Boy Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver near Whitney Avenue
SACRAMENTO, CA (September 19, 2018) – A teenage boy was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Watt Avenue, early Wednesday morning. The young victim was later identified as 14-year-old De’Sean Rowe-Manns, a freshman at Mira Loma High School.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 5:00 AM near Whitney Avenue. Rowe-Manns was walking his bike in the bike lane with his friends when he was struck by an SUV.
The vehicle, with the boy on its hood, did not stop after the collision. After some time, the driver exited the vehicle, carried the victim, and laid him on the front lawn of a residential home before fleeing the area.
Rowe-Manns was rushed to the UC Davis Medical Center for treatment of severe injuries. Unfortunately, the boy succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead twelve hours after the incident. An investigation is ongoing to determine the whereabouts of the hit-and-run driver the suspect vehicle involved.
