Derek Stirek and 3 Others Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 500 [Vancouver, WA]

4 People Hospitalized in Vancouver Traffic Accident on Highway 500 and Northeast Andresen Road

VANCOUVER, WA (July 30, 2024) – Sunday afternoon, Derek Stirek and 3 others sustained injuries in a wrong-way crash on Highway 500.

The incident happened at around 4:40 p.m. on Highway 500 and Northeast Andresen Road.

According to the Washington State Patrol, a westbound Jeep Cherokee that was traveling on the eastbound lanes, and collided with a Jeep Gladiator. Then, the Jeep continued traveling westbound and collided with a Kia Soul and a Ford Escape.

Moreover, responders transported the driver of the Kia, identified as Stirek, and his passenger Laury Andrade to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with unknown injuries. Then, paramedics transported the driver of the Ford, identified as Connie Lynch and the driver of the Jeep, identified as Scott F Fitzgerald, to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with unknown injuries.

Furthermore, officers arrested and booked Fitzgerald in Clark County Jail for driving under the influence and vehicular assault.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the WSP continued to investigate the crash.
