38-Year-Old Man Injured in Truck Accident on 90 Freeway near Ellensburg
KITTAS COUNTY, WA (June 25, 2018) – A 38-year-old man was injured in a crash on 90 Freeway west of Ellensburg Monday afternoon.
Derek Bare of Ellensbug was driving a 1999 Peterbilt semi-truck and trailer east on 90 Freeway in the right lane. According to state troopers, the truck’s right front tire blew forcing Bare to pull to the shoulder, the vehicle to collide with the guardrail, and go down an embankment.
A 2010 Toyota Corolla and another semi-truck then struck a guardrail at about 200 feet of the guardrail, which was pulled across both eastbound lanes. The drivers of those two other vehicles were not injured.
Bare sustained minor injuries and was transported to Kittitas Valley Hospital.
Eastbound 90 Freeway was closed for about three hours. The collision is still under investigation.
