Dennis Ouimette Hurt in Pleasanton Hit-and-Run Accident

PLEASANTON, CA (March 12, 2019) — A Livermore man sustained serious injuries after a hit-and-run collision on Friday, March 1.

According to BART officials, at around 5 p.m., Dennis Ouimette was walking to his truck on the Dublin BART parking lot. Then a car exiting the Dublin/ Pleasanton BART station struck him. BART police said that the driver drove away.

Ouimette sustained a fractured pelvis and internal injuries during the crash, according to his wife Lisa. Authorities brought him to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley. He is now recovering from surgery at Stanford Hospital.

BART police are investigating the incident. Police described the vehicle that struck Ouimette as a mid-2000 silver or gray Toyota sedan. It was possibly the Camry or Corolla model. The driver looked like an adult male with dark-colored hair and a box-style haircut, officers said. Witnesses told the officers that the license plate may have included a 6, C, and possibly a K or X.

The 57-year-old hoist operator usually takes BART from Tri-Valley into San Francisco for work. Co-workers created a GoFundMe page for Ouimette. He will likely be off work for eight months during his painful recovery.

Anyone who has any detail about the vehicle or the driver can contact BART Police Investigation at 510-464-7040 or 510-464-7053.
