3 Injured after 2-Vehicle Crash on East Old Spanish Trail in Tucson

Tucson, AZ  (September 27, 2023) – On Tuesday night, 77-year-old Dennis Morford died in a 2-vehicle crash on East Old Spanish Trail and East Broadway.

The crash happened on September 27. 

Tucson Police Department said the collision involved a blue 2001 Chevrolet Corvette and a white 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan.

Reportedly, Morford was driving north on Old Spanish Trail when he came to a stop before approaching Broadway. The Tiguan was going eastbound on Broadway in the center lane when Morford attempted to make a left turn.

The vehicles collided in the middle lane. 

EMS transported Morford to St. Joseph’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.

An officer determined that the driver of Tiguan was not impaired by alcohol or drugs at the time of the collision. 

Failure to yield from a stop sign by Morford was the major contributing factor in the collision.

Further investigation is ongoing.
