Late Evening Rollover Crash on San Gabriel Canyon Road Kills Los Angeles Man
AZUSA, CA (December 8, 2018) – A man was killed following a rollover crash late Saturday evening in Azusa, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash happened around 11:52 p.m. on Highway 39, also known as San Gabriel Road, at mile marker 25.44 near the San Gabriel River.
CHP officials said a 1990 Mazda RX-7 was traveling northbound when for unknown reasons, it went off the side of the road and struck a tree down the cliff, where it landed on its side.
Responding paramedics performed life-saving aid to the driver, but unsuccessful. The motorist was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:23 a.m.
The victim has been identified by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office as a 21-year-old Demian Aviles of Los Angeles.
No additional information was provided at this time. Investigation of this fatal incident is still ongoing.
