Passenger Dies in DUI Hit-and-Run Crash at Sunset and Pennsylvania Avenues
FAIR OAKS, CA (December 30, 2019) – A woman was arrested following a fatal DUI hit-and-run crash Monday evening in Fair Oaks area.
The crash happened just before 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of Sunset Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue.
According to the CHP, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Sunset Avenue when it left the roadway and hit a guy-wire. The impact caused the vehicle to flip, ejecting one passenger.
That passenger suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The drive of the car, identified as 39-year-old Debra Glenell Christie, ran away from the scene of the crash.
A second passenger was transported to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.
Police later located Christie hiding in a nearby yard. They arrested her on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Christie has been booked into Sacramento County Jail and is facing several felony charges, including hit-and-run, DUI, manslaughter and a probation violation.
