1 Injured in Merced Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99
MERCED, CA (March 23, 2022) – Sunday night, a pedestrian crash on Highway 99 and Childs Avenue involved Deborah Boatner.
According to reports, the incident happened at around 10:00 p.m. at the southbound Highway 99 and Childs Avenue off-ramp.
Reports confirmed that a 43-year-old Merced walked across the off-ramp. Then, 34-year-old Deborah Boatner of Merced driving a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu hit him.
The authorities revealed that the crash happened as Boatner exited the highway onto the Childs Avenue off-ramp. Because of the lack of lighting, Boatner failed to notice the pedestrian in the roadway.
Meanwhile, 36-year-old Chowchilla resident Karem Aldafari in a 2001 Toyota Venza traveled behind Boatner.
When the Chevrolet locked wheels in the crash, Aldafari veered left to avoid hitting the vehicle. As a result, the Toyota went down an embankment.
Meanwhile, responders took the pedestrian to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries.
Also, officers confirmed that both drivers cooperated with the authorities. Furthermore, the authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
Due to the limited information available, the crash remains under active investigation.
